Mt. Rainier Camping

We had a great time camping at Ohanapecosh the past couple of nights in the Mt. Rainier National Park.

We forgot our games so Becky made a make-shift cribbage board.

Becky wasn't afraid to ford a raging river on our hike.

Big cedar trees at the Grove of the Patriarchs.

It was beautiful up at Paradise.

We walked a few miles up the Skyline trail.

We stopped just a little bit above Panorama Point.

We were treated to a view of Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens.

Tiling

A couple of weeks ago Becky's parents were kind enough to drive down from Oak Harbor and help us tile our kitchen backsplash.

Becky's job included snapping the glass tiles without taking shrapnel in the eyes (yes, we have goggles).

Fortunately we have our own personal Bob Villa to show us how it's done.

Becky and I finished up the grout work.

I had the easy, non-technical part of the job.

Ta-da!

Desert Canyon

Brandt and I spent this weekend with my parents, Andy, Jenny and Annalise in Desert Canyon near Lake Chelan.

We spent most of our time relaxing but the highlight of our trip was probably the mini-golf challenge.

Annalise had to sit this one out.

The teams were boys against girls...the stakes were who had to do the dinner dishes.

Becky put her putting skills to the test.

Brandt was outgolfed by Becky (once again).

In the end, the boys came out on top but we all had a great time!

Holden Vacation at Westport

We had a fantastic time last weekend with Brandt's family in Westport. It was overcast but warm for the whole weekend.

(thanks to our bro-in-law Dan Johnson for the group shot)

Father-Son Baseball (thanks again Dan)

Our house was just a few feet from the beach so we spent a lot of time playing baseball and frisbee.

Earl delivers a fastball to Becky.

Tarah & Paul made some delicious paella Friday night.

We made friends with the pets from the house next door.

We tried a bit of crabbing down by the docks with our pot.

Colonial Creek

We spent this weekend camping with our friends, Anne and Patrick, in the North Cascades at Colonial Creek campground.

We found a great camping spot down by the lake.

Anne & Patrick made some tasty chicken fajitas for dinner.

We went on the Happy Panther Trail hike Sunday morning.

Lake Twentytwo

This Saturday we were able to go on our first hike of the summer with Paul and Tarah. The hike worked its way up through old growth forest before leading to a beautiful lake (that we all took a dip in).

4th of July

Brandt and I spent our 4th up on Whidbey for our annual crabbing weekend with my family. All together we pulled in a record 62 crab!! Needless to say our 4th ended with quite the feast.

Check out the scissors ;-)

The big pull! Nine keepers in one pot (also new family record).

Andy and Jackson enjoying their new boat.

Thank you Jenny and Andy for a delicious seafood feast!
